Welcome to the Reformed Good Girl Diaries.

For three decades, I’ve been trying to meet everyone else’s expectations. I’ve been moving from a place of fear and uncertainty.

I spent my childhood terrified of everything: bicycles, bumble bees, the texture of baked chicken, turning left, cigarettes (okay, this one might be fair), you name it.

As an adult, the most frequent comment I get on dating apps is, “You look so innocent.” People apologize when they swear in front of me as if my virgin ears can’t handle it. If I had a dollar for every time someone told me to “speak up” or be more confident at work or school, I’d certainly have more than $45.

The fact is, I’m burnt out. Being scared of everything, trying to impress everyone, and being capital-g Good are simply untenable long-term strategies.

Now, I’m saying whatever I want! I’m doing what I want! I’m finally shedding my Good Girl™ shackles.

Every Thursday, I’ll take you along on my journey to find my inner bad girl. I’ll share personal essays, ideas, poems, and whatever else I feel like.

If you can relate or just want to follow along, subscribe! I’d love to have you.
